At Guardian Alarm, we’re dedicated to providing customers with reliable service and peace of mind. That reliability is due in part to the use of the cellular network that delivers alarm signals to our monitoring center. The reality of cellular technology is that it is always advancing and these advances lead to the retirement of older 3G technology.

The 3G/4G technology used in many of our customer’s security systems is being retired. These customer’s systems will require new components and/or possible equipment upgrades. While we have no control over the cell network upgrades, it is our goal to ensure every customer’s system continues to communicate with our monitoring center uninterrupted.

What is the Guardian Alarm 3G Upgrade Project?

Like with your cell phone, the service providers of Guardian Alarm’s cellular network are upgrading their network from 3G/4G to LTE. This is the network your security system uses to communicate with Guardian Alarm’s monitoring center. In order to ensure this communication continues uninterrupted, your system hardware, which currently communicates via the 3G/4G network, must be upgraded to enable communication via the new LTE network.

Why is this upgrade necessary?

This upgrade is necessary because your system currently utilizes older equipment that is not compatible with the new LTE network. While these changes to the network are outside of our control, we are committed to your safety and security. By upgrading your hardware, we can ensure your service continues uninterrupted so that, if an event occurs, we remain able to respond immediately.

When is this upgrade taking place?

The cellular network optimization efforts are already underway and will be completed by our service providers by February 2022. Guardian Alarm is being proactive to ensure all customers requiring hardware upgrades receive them well in advance of this date. Because your security is our top priority, we are taking these steps now to prevent any possibility of service interruption in the future.
